Red Sox pulling a Stella and getting their groove back

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Cody Ross continued his hot spring by clubbing a mammoth three-run homer over the Green Monster replica at JetBlue Park, helping the Red Sox to an 8-0 victory over the Rays on Tuesday afternoon.
Ross is hitting .342 in Grapefruit League competition.
Josh Beckett fired five shutout innings, throwing 84 pitches. The righty walked three and struck out five...
Looks like the Sox have found their groove over the past two games. John Lester yesterday and now Josh Beckett turning in a great performance. Beckett had to throw a lot of pitches (85) but did not allow a run in 5 innings.
"When you're throwing this many pitches, 85 to 100, your competitive stuff kind of takes," said Beckett. "You're trying to get guys out and not let people score. I think the mental aspect of the game is a little bit different than when you're going three innings. Maybe then, you tend to really work on one individual pitch."
Cody Ross belted another HR and Dustin Pedroia and Big Papi also added extra base hits. In his first game since being named the starting shortstop, Mike Aviles went 0-3 but he doesn't have to look over his shoulder anymore and should be able to settle in comfortably at the plate. Box Score

The Red Sox play again on Thursday with Alfredo Aceves getting the start. Aceves is trying to rebound from getting shelled in his last outing. (An outing against minor leaguers)

Tomorrow Clay Buchholz, Aaron Cook, Vicente Padilla and Andrew Bailey will work out at the Minor League complex and most likely get some simulated games in.
