Sox Rumored to Be Unhappy with Theo Deal

A tidbit from the rumor mill.
The Red Sox are impressed with Chris Carpenter's live fastball but privately they are not happy with what they wound up getting in exchange for Theo Epstein.
The whole compensation for Theo business never made sense to me. I get that he's a contract employee, just like the players are contract employees, but you just can't quantify a GM. Somebody was bound to be unhappy with this deal, and it's unfortunate that it had to be the Red Sox. But let's be honest, whenever push has come to shove, when it's Sox or Yankees vs. any other team, the call has usually gone to the powerhouse teams. In the grand scheme of things, they're lucky they got anything. Most general managers leave quietly, and no compensation comes back.
