Was Friday's Game Part of the Ceremony?

Of course the Yankees pounded the Red Sox on a day to celebrate Red Sox history. That's what most of it has been.

To be fair, recent history is much kinder. Pete Abraham observed:

In the last 6 years, the lead the season series with the 55-54. They've outscored them 597-592. Now that's close
Indeed close. I haven't actually mapped it out Bill James-style, but I think the Yankees gain an edge in total victories by beating up on other teams more, especially the cellar teams. The Sox, historically, are more likely to be caught off guard.

With the forecast for rain tomorrow, a lot of it, a win today would be really nice. (I hesitate to say "must-win" in April -- but feel free if you want.) Félix Doubront gets the ball today against Freddy García, a right-hander looking for his first win of the season.

Call the José Hotline! Canseco announced on 98.5 that he'll be playing in Worcester, and also declared on the Twitter that he'd love to play here. Hey, he's only 47.

And by the way, 1912 Red Sox? 105-47, and World Series champs.
