Salty Walk Off Home Run Helps Sox Drop Rays 3-2

Jarrod Saltalamacchia's pinch hit, 9th inning home run lifted the Red Sox to a 3-2 win over the Tampa Bay Rays at Fenway Park.

Josh Beckett (pictured) and David Price had been embroiled in a terrific pitcher's duel; in fact though Tampa Bay led 2-1 after 7 innings, it wouldn't be a stretch to say that Beckett outpitched his Tampa Bay counterpart. Beckett went 7 innings allowing 2 runs on just 4 hits. He struck out 5 and didn't walk a batter.

Rich Hill got the win in relief for the Red Sox. Rays closer Fernando Rodney blew his 1st save of the season.

NOTES - Adrian Gonzalez made his 1st Fenway start in right field. He spent a lot of time in pre-game working on the intricacies of playing what many regard as the toughest rightfield in baseball.

Daisuke Matsuzaka made a rehab start in Pawtucket Saturday night. He threw 5 scoreless innings giving up 1 hit and allowing 1 walk while striking out 2.
