David Ortiz (pictured) singled, doubled, and homered but it wasn't enough to push the Red Sox past the Nationals. Washington rallied for a run in the top of the 9th off Boston reliever Alfredo Aceves to snap a 3-3 tie in beating the Red Sox and sweeping the 3-game series.

Red Sox starting pitcher Jon Lester went 7 innings. He was charged with 3 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks; he struck out 9.
