Sox, Beckett Fall To Marlins 4-1

A rough 3-run 1st inning for Josh Beckett, combined with an anemic performance by the Red Sox offense, ultimately resulted in a 4-1 loss against the Miami Marlins in the 1st game of a 6-game road trip for Boston.

Beckett gave up a lead-off triple to Jose Reyes in the bottom of the 1st, followed by an RBI sacrifice fly, a single, double and another single which drove in a pair.

Beckett pitched 7 innings, allowing 6 hits and 2 walk while striking out 5.

Boston's only run scored on an Adrian Gonzalez sac fly in the top of the 6th which scored Dustin Pedroia.

Boston has now lost 7 of its last 8 games.
