Streak Ends at 5 As Sox Lose 4-1

Jon Lester pitched well enough to lose at Fenway Friday evening as Atlanta topped the Red Sox 4-1 in the opener of their 3-game interleague series. Lester (pictured) was charged with 3 runs on 10 hits over 7 innings while the Boston offense was being held in check by Jair Jurrjens who scattered 3 hits over 7.1 innings.

The lone Boston run came in the bottom of the 8th inning when Daniel Nava doubled home Will Middlebrooks.
