By the Way, There Was A Game Tonight, Too

Amid talk of a blockbuster trade that just about blew up twitter early Friday evening, the Red Sox actually had to go out and play a game.

Jon Lester (pictured with David Ortiz) tossed 7 innings allowing 3 runs on 6 hits and 4 walks to earn his 8th win of the season in a 4-3 victory over the Kansas City Royals at Fenway Park. For Lester it was his 3rd straight win.

Ortiz, back in the lineup for the first time since July 16th, ripped a 2-RBI single in the bottom of the 1st inning to put the Red Sox on top. He also hit a double later in the game.

Pedro Ciraco and Jacoby Ellsbury also had 2-hit games.

Meanwhile, the baseball world is still buzzing over a possible trade that would send Adrian Gonzalez, Josh Beckett, Carl Crawford and Nick Punto to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Stay tuned for more.
