Lester Pitches Well...Well Enough To Lose

Most nights, you'd take Jon Lester giving you 8 innings of 3 runs on 7 hits with 7 strikeouts and no walks. On this Thursday night at Fenway however, the Red Sox offense could only manage 2 hits off three Minnesota Twins pitchers in a 5-0 losing effort at Fenway Park.

Red Sox radio announcer Dave O'Brien accurately described the Red Sox offense as "lifeless." Adrian Gonzalez had the only two Boston hits, both of them off Twins starting pitcher Sam Deduno.

The shutout was the 5th of the season for Boston.
