Melancon Gets the Save. No, Really.

The Red Sox nearly gave away another one to the Kansas City Royals, but held on for dear life - Mark Melancon was on the mound in the 9th after all - and came away with an 8-6 win at Fenway Park.

It wasn't as dramatic as Adrian Gonzalez's 3-run home run last night in his 1st at bat for the Dodgers, but James Loney's (pictured) 1st hit as a Red Sox drove in the tying run in the bottom of the 5th inning.

The Red Sox offense banged out 14 hits including home runs by Pedro Ciriaco and Dustin Pedroia. Ciriaco had 3 hits; Jacoby Ellsbury, Pedroia, Cody Ross, and Mike Aviles each had 2 hits.
