Morales, Sox Put A Bandaid On Situation

Franklin Morales gave the Red Sox six outstanding innings of 3-hit, 1-run baseball in a spot start for Josh Beckett in the team's 6-4 win over the Minnesota Twins at Fenway Park. The victory averted a sweep by the Twins, but did little to stop the swirling tempest of rumor, innuendo, and nonsense eminating from 4 Yawkey Way these days.

Adrian Gonzalez (pictured) hit his 11th home run of the season in the bottom of the 5th inning and Carl Crawford went 3-5 on his 31st birthday in the win.

Vicente Padilla struggled in the top of the 9th inning, allowing a pair of home runs, but Alfredo Aceves came on to seal the win and earn his 23rd save of the season.

During the game, the Red Sox issued a press release saying the team had acquired 3rd baseman Danny Valencia from Minnesota in exchange for minor league outfielder Jeremias Pineda. Valencia was optioned to AAA Pawtucket.
