Ortiz's Season May Be Over

Scott Lauber reports:
[Ortiz] received a platelet-rich plasma injection Aug. 27 that, Valentine said, has taken effect. Still, though, Ortiz isn’t ready to resume running.
The Sox are "bracing" for Ortiz not to return this season.

Lauber also says John Lackey's recovery is moving along well. He will throw batting practice on Saturday at Fenway. I know what you're thinking, but Lackey (pictured) isn't that old (33) and was a solid starter for years. A return to form next season would be great news.

The John Farrell rumors have gotten loud enough that he had to address them. The small irony here is that Farrell manages Toronto, a team with a worse record than the Sox.
