On the day when Fenway honored the late John Pesky the Red Sox narrowly beat the Orioles 2-1 behind Felix Doubront's (pictured) career high 11 strikeouts. The Sox broke a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the 8th when Cody Ross doubled to score Dustin Pedroia. Adam Bailey then came in to record his 6th save of the season.
With the win the Baltimore Orioles are now a game behind the Yankees for first place.
In somewhat positive news the "great" John Lackey pitched 2 innings striking out 3 in an instructional league intrasquad game in Fort Myers Florida.
