Former Red Sox pitcher Scott Atchison signs with the Mets

Amid all the baseball hoopla of the day (we'll get to that in another post) former Red Sox relief pitcher Scott Atchison has signed a minor league deal with the New York Mets.

Atchison spent three seasons with the Red Sox appearing in 102 games with a 5-4 record, 3.18 ERA and 94 strike outs in 141.2 innings pitched.

On July 15, 2012, the Red Sox placed Atchison on the 15-day disabled list because of a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow. On August 16 he was transferred to the 60-day disabled list. Atchison returned to the Red Sox roster on September 12th.
