Amid all the baseball hoopla of the day (we'll get to that in another post) former Red Sox relief pitcher Scott Atchison has signed a minor league deal with the New York Mets.
Atchison spent three seasons with the Red Sox appearing in
102 games with a 5-4 record, 3.18 ERA and 94 strike outs in 141.2 innings
pitched.
On July 15, 2012, the Red Sox
placed Atchison on the 15-day disabled list because of a torn ulnar collateral
ligament in his right elbow. On August 16 he was transferred to the 60-day
disabled list. Atchison returned to the Red Sox roster on September 12th.
