Sox beat Cardinals 5-3

Pedro Ciriaco and Jon Lester stole the show earlier today in the Red Sox game against the St. Louis Cardinals. Ciriaco, who played third base today for the team went 1-2 with 2 RBI's. Daniel Nava went 2-3 today Gomez went 2-4 scoring 1 run. Lester pitched 2 perfect innings to start the game off and recieved the win for his efforts. He threw 24 pitches in the two innings with 17 of them being strikes. He struck out 1 and threw 23 fastballs. Koji Uehara and Andrew Miller each threw an inning after Lester, both guys pitching scoreless innings. This was the perfect start to the season that Lester needed, he was not the pitcher expected last year and we need him to produce at a much higher standard to be the ace of our staff. The Red Sox play a pair of split-squad games on monday playing the Tampa Bay Rays and Toronto Blue Jays at 1:05, both games are part of the Grapefruit League.
