From dumpster to Dempster

Getting his first win of the season for the Red Sox tonight, Dempster looked pretty sharp even against a poor Astro's ball club. Coming into the season Dempster was an after thought in this Red Sox rotation. Now fans are seeing him as the strikeout machine that he has/can be. Tonight he went 6 innings only giving up 2 runs on 4 hits and allowing 3 free passes to first. Yah he'll let some guys on base, and yah he might not be the "sexy" pitcher that Red Sox nation likes to watch, but for the first month of the season he has done his job and done it pretty well.
Dempster's first five starts this season he's gone at least 5 innings and struck out at least 7 in each outing. If healthy, Dempster can really help this staff out throughout the year as a very solid number 3 or 4 starter. Four of the last five seasons he's been able to go at least 200 innings, and the Red Sox are hoping he has another one of those seasons. With Lackey on his way back to the rotation off the DL, the Red Sox staff could potentially have one of the top five rotations in baseball. Consistent outings from the starters will only strengthen the already strong Sox bullpen.
