Red Sox jinxed by cover of Sports Illustrated?

If you haven't yet read this weeks regional cover article of Sports Illustrated I strongly suggest to do so. It covers the Boston sports teams that have reacted to the recent tragedies that occurred during the Boston Marathon and how the city reacted. On the cover is Jonny Gomes, and while it truly is an honor to be placed on the cover of Sports Illustrated there is also the rumored jinx. Gomes who isn't an everyday player for the team may not be too effected by the jinx but instead the team may be more effected. Since the issue came out, on Thursday, Gomes has played in one of the teams two games. In that game he went 1-5 with an RBI, but struck out 3 times. The Red Sox on the other hand have won the 2 games they have played since the issue was released, beating the Houston Astros 7-2 and 7-3.
