Sox, Aceves roll out a stinker

Mercifully, the rain put the Red Sox and their fans out of their collective misery after only 7 innings. Alfredo Aceves (pictured) had about as bad a performance as a pitcher can have - 8 runs (7 earned) on 7 hits and 4 walks plus an error in just 3.1 innings - as Oakland romped to a 13-0 win at Fenway Park.

The A's did early damage in the top of the 3rd inning when they scored 6 runs on 3 hits and 3 walks.

The Red Sox managed just 3 hits - singles by Dustin Pedroia, Jarrod Saltalamacchia, and Jonny Gomes. Oakland starter Bartolo Colon went all 7 innings; he struck out 7 and walked just 1.

The Red Sox have now dropped 3 of their first 4 games of the homestand.
