Sox drop a pair to the Royals

GAME ONE
The Royals ended the Red Sox 7-game winning streak with a 4-2 win in Game One of their day/night doubleheader at Fenway Park. Trailing 2-1, the Royals scored 3 runs off Red Sox starter Ryan Dempster. It was the 1st time all season that a Red Sox starter gave up 3 runs all season.

Dempster went 7 innings in the loss, charged with all 4 Kansas City runs on 6 hits and 3 walks while striking out 8.

David Ortiz, in his 2nd game back from the disabled list, had 3 hits in 4 at bats including his first double of the season; he also drove in 1 of the Red Sox runs.



GAME TWO
Andrew Miller walked in the winning run in the top of the 10th inning as the Royals completed a sweep of the day/night doubleheader with a 5-4 win in the night cap.

Mike Napoli (pictured) had 3 hits including a double and a home run. The home run was his 3rd of the season.

Allen Webster, making his 1st Major League start, went 6 innings; he was charged with 3 runs (2 earned) on 5 hits and 1 walk. He struck out 5.
