Sox fall to O's and drop 1st series

Adam Jones ripped a 2-out RBI double down the left field line in the top of the 7th inning off Red Sox reliever Koji Uehara to push Baltimore past the Red Sox 3-2 at Fenway Park.

The Orioles jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a Chris Davis solo home run off Alfredo Aceves in the top of the 2nd inning; the Red Sox went ahead an inning later on RBI singles by Dustin Pedroia and Mike Napoli.

Aceves was pressed into service as a starter as a result of the strained biceps suffered by John Lackey last week which resulted in a trip to the disabled list for Lackey. Aceves was charged with 2 runs on 6 hits and 3 walks over 5 innings. He struck out 4 and gave up the 1 home run to Davis.

NOTES - Alex Wilson made his Major League debut out of the bullpen for Boston in the top of the 9th. Manny Machado had quite the night aginst Red Sox pitchers - 3 hits and a run scored. David Ortiz made a rehab start in Pawtucket going 2-for-3 with a pair of singles. He drove in a run and scored as well. Jose Iglesias, down in Pawtucket now that Stephen Drew is back in Boston, hit a home run to left field.
