3 Stars of the Game: Game 39

The Red Sox offense jumped off to a quick start in Tampa before fizzeling out and not providing much more entertainment for the rest of the evening. Tampa's starter needed a little bit more time to warm up before the game, giving up 3 runs in the first inning before settling down into a grove that confused batters and made him the leagues first 7-0 pitcher this year. Here are your 3 stars of the game:

Star 3: David Ortiz
Ortiz provided the only offense for the team last night. He went 1-4 with a 3 Run home run in the 1st inning. The home run brought his total up to 5 on the year and his RBI total increased to 20.
Star 2: Jose Molina
Molina called a fantastic game behind the plate for his pitcher after giving up the Ortiz home run. Molina also had a great offensive night going 3-3 at the plate with 2 RBI's and a run scored.
Star 1: Matt Moore
Moore shut down Red Sox hitters after the first inning. He suffered an early 3 run home run hit by Ortiz but then settled into a groove. In 6 innings of work he only gave up 3 runs on 3 hits. He struck out 8 and only walked 2. He became the only pitcher in the majors that started the season 7-0 so far.

The Sox continue to lack offense and it is really hurting the team. The first inning looked positive but after that the offense went flat. The need to turn this around quickly so that they do not fall too far back in the AL East standings.
