3 Stars of the Game: Game 52

Starting pitching and an evenly balanced offense helped the Sox get their first win in their first inter-league game of the season. This team is now in first and hopefully because they now have sole possession of first place in the AL East they do not look back. Here are the 3 stars of the game.

Star 3: Dustin Pedroia
Pedroia quickly helped the Red Sox jump out to a much needed lead with a 2 run home run in the first inning. Pedroia went 1-3 on the night with the 2 RBI's and 1 run scored from the home run. He also walked once and then was pinch run for, with that runner scoring a run.
Star 2: Alfredo Aceves
Not many people expected Aceves to have the outing that he did. He was dominant in his start against the Phillies. He pitched 6 innings giving up 7 hits but only allowing 1 run. He struck out 4 and walked 2. He decreased his ERA from over 8 to down to 6.57. While this was a good start for Aceves do not expect to continue to see him in the starting rotation, he will likely only start if a pitcher is injured.
Star 1: Mike Napoli
Napoli looked like he was starting to get back into early season form last night with a 2-4 effort. Napoli hit a solo home run in the first inning and then a ground rule double in the third inning to score another run. He had 2 RBI's 2 runs and walked once.

The Red Sox started the series off with a bang against the Phillies, hopefully they can continue their success with another win tonight and then keep the ball rolling when the travel to Philadelphia.
