Red Sox Weekly Preview: May 27-June 2

The Red Sox had an exciting week this past week, going 4-3 but having 2 come from behind wins over the weekend against Cleveland. Currently they are 31-20 and are tied for first place with the Yankees. This week the Red Sox play a home and home series against the Phillies and then have a 3 game series against the New York Yankees, a series that will be important for the standings of the AL East.

Monday: Tyler Cloyd vs Alfredo Aceves
After Clay Buchholz was scratched from his start it was announced that Aceves would start for the Red Sox, a worst case scenario for Red Sox fans. Aceves is 1-1 on the year with a 8.20 ERA. Cloyd is pitching in place of Roy Halliday because of injury and is 1-0 with a 2.70 ERA. The game is at 7:10 on NESN.
Tuesday: Cliff Lee vs Ryan Dempster
Dempster is coming off 3 rough outings and is looking to turn it around against a struggling Phillies offense. He is 2-5 with a 4.69 ERA. Lee had his best outing of the year last time he got the ball throwing a 2 hit shutout against Miami. He is 5-2 with a 2.48 ERA. The game is at 7:10 on NESN.
Wednesday: John Lackey vs Kyle Kendrick
Lackey has had 2 good consecutive starts, last time allowing only 1 run, unearned, over 7 innings of work. He is 3-4 on the year with a 2.72 ERA and is pitching much better. Kendrick has had a rough last 2 stars, with an ERA of 7.36 in those starts where he had a 1.84 in his first 7 starts. He is 4-3 with a 3.29 ERA on the year. The game is at 7:05 on NESN.
Thursday: Jon Lester vs Jonathan Pettibone
Lester has continued to be dominant, with the red sox winning 8 of the 11 games that he has started this year. He is 6-1 on the season with a 3.34 ERA. Pettibone is 3-0 on the year with a 3.21 ERA and has had 4 quality starts this year. The game is at 7:05 on NESN and the MLB Network.
Friday: TBA vs TBA
The Red Sox and Yankees have no announced the pitchers for this game but it is expected to be Doubront for the Red Sox. Doubront is coming off another good outing for the team after getting a no decision. The game is at The game is at 7:05 on NESN and MLB Network.
Saturday: TBA vs TBA
The Red Sox will likely start Clay Buchholz here after his scratched start on Monday. The game is at 7:15 on FOX.
Sunday:TBA vs TBA
The Red Sox and Yankees have not announced their pitchers for Sunday Night Baseball. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2 and starts at 8:00.
