Dempster is 0-2 with an 11.02 ERA in three career starts against the Angels.

Blanton is 3-4 in 11 appearances against the Red Sox.

First pitch 1:35 EDT. Here’s today’s starting nine:

2. Nava RF
3. Pedroia 2B
4. Ortiz DH
5. Napoli 1B
6. Saltalamacchia C
7. Carp LF

9. Iglesias 3B

Pitching: RHP Ryan Dempster (3-6, 4.39)

Victorino out: Shane Victorino is not in the Red Sox lineup on today. Victorino felt a cramp in his hamstring on Saturday night, but he said he's ok. Today was a scheduled day off. Victorino is expected to be back Monday as the Red Sox head to Tampa

Iglesias still streaking: Jose Iglesias has now hit safely in 12 straight games, the longest streak by an AL rookie this year.

Big Papi likes Angels: In his last 50 games against the Angels prior to this series, David Ortiz has hit .326 with 17 homers and 47 RBI. Big Papi hit one of the longest Fenway home runs in last night's game off Angels reliever Jerome Williams.

Buchholz day-to-day: Clay Buchholz left Saturday's game against the Angels in the seventh inning due to neck tightness. Buchholz will be examined again today. He's expected to make his next scheduled start.
