In a game that had 1st place on the line in the AL East the Red Sox showed some fight and rallied behind a strong outing by Jon Lester that allowed the team to again go up 1.5 games in the standings. The team quickly forgot about their 2 hit performance from the night before and belted out 12 hits and 6 runs over the Tampa Bay Rays. Here are the stars of the game.
Star 3: Jose Iglesias
Iglesias went 1-4 last night but 2 RBI's. He hit an infield single in the 8th inning plating Gomes, and Drew, and then advanced to third on a throwing error by the shortstop. The 2 RBI's increased his season total to 19.
Star 2: Mike Napoli
Napoli went 2-4 last night and scored 2 runs. Napoli scored in the second inning when Mike Carp singled and then again in the 8th inning when stephen drew singled.
Star 1: Jon Lester
Lester turned in one of his more dominant outings of the season last night, going 6.1 innings giving up 2 runs and 7 hits. He struck out 8 and walked zero. With the 26 batters he faced he threw only 8 first pitch strikes. With this win he improved to 9-6 on the season.

The Red Sox now have a little more breathing room in the standings but it is not time to let up, what do you think the key is for the team to win the next two games of the series and end the series up 3.5 games over Tampa?
