It took a single extra inning but the Red Sox took 3 out of 4 games against the Mariners in Seattle. The team rallied from a 4 run deficit in the 3rd inning and won 8-7 in what was a battle of offense. Here are the stars of the game:
Star 3: Brad Miller
Miller, who hit at the top of the lineup for the Mariners did everything a mannager would want from a leadoff man, going 2-5 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI. Millers RBI came on a ground rule double in the 2nd inning off of Dempster.
Star 2: Jacoby Ellsbury
Ellsbury got the Sox off to a quick start, hitting a home run with the first swing of the game. He went 2-4 with 2 RBI and 1 run scored. His home run was the 3rd of the year and his 2 RBI's brought his total up to 33 on the year.
Star 1: Steven Wright
After a terrible performance by Dempster, Wright came in and dominated the Mariners lineup. He pitched 5.2 innings of relief allowing only 3 hits and 0 runs. He walked 2 batters and struck out 3. Without Wright pitching the game would have continued a downward spiral until the lead was insurmountable.

3 out of 4 in Seattle is a great visit to the Pacific North West for the Sox. They are now 3.5 games up in the AL East, which means no matter what happens in Oakland they will have the lead at the All Star break. What do you think the key is after the All Star break to keep the Red Sox in first place? Leave your answer in the comments section below or tell me on twitter @Ryanthahawaiian.
