According to MLB.com, the Red Sox have signed Dominican prospect Yoan Aybar. Aybar is 16 years old and checks in at 6'2", 165 pounds. He hit's lefty, plays center field, and apparently has huge upside potential, according to MLB.com. According to MLB.com, he is a good contact hitter who can hit for power as well. He also has above average arm strength, according to MLB.com.

That's all well and good, but can he pitch with that above average arm strength he has? Probably not, but we do need more pitching, not another outfielder. Granted, he's not going to be in the majors right away, but I'd still rather see them sign a pitching prospect. Maybe the organization is planning for the future if they lose out on re-signing Jacoby Ellsbury. Or they could have seen something that they haven't disclosed yet when they scouted him. I couldn't find too much, other that what I wrote above, so there's still a lot we don't know about the guy. He's only 16, so we've got a lot of time to develop him. Only time will tell if this is a good move or not.
