Jared Remy, son Red Sox broadcaster Jerry Remy and a former Red Sox security staffer, has been arrested in connection with the stabbing death of his girlfriend.

Police announced the arrest this morning, after Jennifer Martel was found stabbed to death yesterday in the Waltham, Massachusetts apartment the two shared with their four-year-old daughter.

Remy, 34 , will be charged with murder and assault and battery in connection with Martel's death in Waltham District Court later today.

Earlier this week, Remy was arrested after a domestic dispute with Martel. He was charged with assault and battery and released on personal recognizance.

In 2005, Remy was charged with assault and battery after being accused of beating up his girlfriend.

Remy was fired from his job with Red Sox security in 2009 after being implicated as a steroids dealer. Remy admitted to using steroids, but an MLB investigation found no evidence he had sold them to players.
