With last night’s loss to the Giants, the Red Sox fell into second place for the first time since July 30. Boston now trails the Tampa Bay Rays by mere percentage points in the AL East.

The Red Sox have lost five of seven and eight of their last 11 games. It may not be September, but it sure feels like a collapse. Hide the chicken and beer.

Meanwhile, the Rays, Orioles and now the Yankees are ready to rumble in the wide open East.

The Rays have won six of their last 10 and have one of the best starting rotations in the American League.

The Orioles have been backsliding lately, losing eight of 10, but they are still hanging around at five and a half games back.

The Yankees are winners in eight of their last 10 games and are poised to make their move despite the drama.

In today’s RSL poll, who do you think will win the American League East's fight to the finish?
