The first place Boston Red Sox journey to Yankee Stadium tonight to begin a four-game series with the surging Yankees. While the Bronx Bombers are just 2 1/2 games out in the wild card race, there is the matter of some unfinished business between the two teams.

In the last series at Fenway Park, Ryan Dempster delivered a bean ball into the ribs of Alex Rodriquez resulting in empty benches, a lot of strong words and a 5-game suspension for the Sox pitcher. The Yankees did not retaliate. Is tonight the night?

Here is the lineup for the Red Sox tonight (first pitch – 7:10 pm EDT):

1.Ellsbury CF
2.Victorino RF
3.Pedroia 2B
4.Ortiz DH
5.Nava LF
6.Napoli 1B
7.Drew SS
8.Lavarnway C
9.Middlebrooks 3B

Pitching: RHP Jake Peavy (11-5, 3.91). Peavy is 3-1, 3.18 in six starts since joining the Sox.

AL Pitcher of the Month Ivan Nova (8-4, 2.88) will get the start for the Yankees. Nova was 4-0, 2.08 in August. Nova is facing the Sox for the first time since 2012. He is 2-2, 4.85 in six career appearances against the Sox.

Magic Number: The Sox have won five of six and nine of 11 games and are 5.5 games up in the division with 21 games to play.

Middlebrooks redemption: Will Middlebrooks has hit .343 since being called back up from Pawtucket. His grand slam against the Tigers last night broke the game open.

Fear the Beard: In his last nine games, Mike Napoli is 11 of 31 with three doubles, three homers and eight RBI.
