Iglesias gets ovation then revenge

Detroit Tigers shortstop Jose Iglesias faced off against his former team Monday for the first time since being traded away.

He promptly turned a nifty double play then smacked a double off starter John Lackey in the Tigers 3-0 win.

The Tigers GM Dave Dombrowski told WEEI Boston,
“Jose’s been tremendous for us. He really changes our ball club, as you know, over here. He’s an outstanding defensive shortstop. He really changes the middle of the diamond. We really like what he brings for us. He’s going to be our shortstop for years to come.”

Iglesias, who was part of the trade that brought Jake Peavy to Boston, is hitting .292 in 28 games with the Tigers.
