Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia was named the American League Defensive Player of the Year by Wilson.

The award is determined by a formula that combines advanced statistics, traditional statistics and scouting information. Pedroia's .993 fielding percentage was the best of his career. In 688 chances, Pedroia totaled just five errors.

Last week Pedroia won his third Gold Glove Award. Oh, he also won a World Series.

Diamondbacks outfielder Gerardo Parra won the Defensive Player of the Year award in the NL.
