Following last night's 9-3 loss to the Yankees in game 1 of their 3-game series with New York, and with back-to-back short outings by Clay Buchholz and Jon Lester, the Red Sox have optioned outfielder Daniel Nava to Pawtucket and called up pitcher Alex Wilson.

Nava (pictured) had played in 17 of Boston's 21 games this season. He is hitting just .149 with 10 hits in 67 at bats.

The move delays the recall of outfielder Shane Victorino until most likely Thursday; 3rd baseman Will Middlebrooks could return to Boston on Friday.
