Jonny Gomes, David Ortiz, and David Ross all went deep for the Red Sox who have now won 2 in a row and 6 of their last 10 games.

Dustin Pedroia led off the bottom of the 1st inning with a walk off Oakland starting pitcher Tommy Milone. Xander Bogaerts followed with a single and Ortiz walked to load the bases. One out later, Gomes hit his 3rd home run of the season and the team's 3rd grand slam in the last 4 games to give the Sox a 4-0 lead.

Ortiz hit his 6th home run of the season, and the 379th in a Red Sox uniform in the bottom of the 3rd; Ross went deep an inning later for his 2nd home run of 2014.

The 15 strikeouts are a career high for Lester who improved his record to 3-4. He struck out every Oakland batter at least once.
