Christian Vasquez make his major league debut at catcher tonight after the Red Sox designated A.J. Pierzysnki for assignment this afternoon. Vasquez is one of 5 rookies who will try to jump start the Sox offense, which has been pretty pathetic for most of the year. Rubby de la Rosa gets the nod on the hill tonight for the Sox after Brandon Workman was option after last night's game to make room. De la Rosa has been successful at the major league level, posting a 2-2 record and a 2.51 ERA this season with the big league Sox.

He'll face off against Chris Sale, the White Sox lefty who will be looking to convince fans to vote him onto the AL All Star roster before tomorrow afternoon. Sale has been hot this season for the most part, with an 8-1 record and a 2.16 ERA. Last time out, he posted his 2nd complete game of the year and 7th career start with 12 or more strikeouts and 14th overall with double digit strikeouts. The struggling Sox offense will have their work cut out for them tonight if they want to get in the win column.
