St. Louis, MO- The Red Sox picked starter Joe Kelly up in one of the many trade deadline moves made this year, and they are hoping the acquisition pays off immediately. Kelly will face off against his former roommate and the best man of his wedding, Shelby Miller. And while Kelly sported a modest 2-2 record with a 4.37 ERA, he is at the right point of his career to start excelling. Not known for being a strikeout guy, the starter went 10-5 with a 2.73 ERA last year for the Cardinals.

Shelby Miller has had a similar path, going 8-8 with a 4.14 ERA this season. Also not a power pitcher, Miller only has 81 strikeouts in 122 innings. Best friends off the mound, Kelly and Miller square off tonight at 8:15pm.

Tid Bits:

While Boston has had an awful year, they are still 30-31 against non AL East Teams.

It looks like Allen Craig will not be able to help Boston's offensive woes, as he went  on the DL with a foot injury. The earliest he is available is August 17.

With last night's late loss, Boston has dropped 11 of their past 13.

Mike Napoli is back in the lineup for Boston, and David Ortiz will sit out because of the non-DH rule at National League parks.

Here is the lineup for Boston
1) Holt 3B
2) Pedroia 2B
3) Cespedes LF
4) Napoli 1B
5) Nava RF
6) Bogaerts SS
7) Vazquez C
8) Betts CF
9) Kelly P
