Recap - Sox hammer Cueto...and make it look easy

The Red Sox slapped Johnny Cueto around for six innings and received eight innings of solid pitching from rookie Henry Owens as Boston beat the Kansas City Royals 7-2 at Fenway Park on Friday night.

Owens scattered four hits and walked one while allowing just one earned run to improve his record to 2-1. He allowed a solo home run to Alcides Escobar in the sixth.

Boston put together five consecutive hits in a three-run second inning. Travis Shaw doubled, Rusney Castillo singled, Blake Swihart doubled followed by singles by Josh Rutledge (pictured) and Mookie Betts.

Swihart led the 13-hit Boston attack with four hits. Mookie Betts had three hits; Castillo and Rutledge each had a pair.
