Game 133 Preview: Yankees at Red Sox

An afternoon series finale is set to begin today at 4:05 between the Sox and Yanks. Henry Owens (2-1 4.03) will get the start for the Red Sox against the current Wild Card leader New York Yankees and Masahiro Tanaka (10-6 3.62). Tanaka has been on a roll during his last 10 starts, only giving up 3 or less earned runs in 9 of those starts. He's bounced back nicely and in a time of desperate need as the team has set it's hopes on a playoff spot. The combination of Ortiz, Bogaerts and Bradley Jr. is hitting a combined .162 against Tanaka.

It's been a solid month for Henry Owens, who made his big league debut against the Yanks on August 4th in Yankee Stadium. There has been talk that Owens and Rodriguez, the two rookies in the rotation, might be held back a day or two going forward in order to help ease their work load and keep them fresh as the season winds down. Now that rosters can expand, you can expect to see Matt Barnes and Steven Wright make a few more starts in their places too.

Here is today's Red Sox lineup:

Betts (CF)
Sandoval (3B)
Bogaerts (SS)
Ortiz (DH)
Shaw (1B)
Castillo (LF)
Holt (2B)
Swihart (C)
Bradley Jr (RF)

Quick Hits:

- Rusney Castillo will be making his first career start in Left Field today
- Since August 9th, Jackie Bradley Jr has the highest batting average in the MLB, hitting .438 with a big league high 11 doubles
