Boston got out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on Travis Shaw's two-RBI single off Tampa Bay starter Matt Moore. It was one of three hits on the night for Shaw.

Owens (pictured) was perfect through the first four innings until Logan Forsythe led off the fifth with a double. He was ultimately charged with all five Rays runs (four earned) on seven hits and two walks while striking out five.

The loss dropped the Red Sox back into last place in the American League East.
