The Red Sox have made their first move of the day, and have upgraded their bullpen. The Red Sox sent RHP prospect Pat Light to the Twins for LHP Fernando Abad.

This season in 34 IP, Abad has posted a 2.65 ERA with 29 strikeouts. Left handed hitters are hitting .157 against him, while righties hit .257. Abad will make $507,000 this season, then is scheduled for arbitration next season.

Pat Light was the Red Sox 13th ranked prospect, via SoxProspects.com. He supported a 2.32 in AAA this season, but struggled in the majors. In 2.2 IP of work, Light has surrendered 7 H with 7 ER.

Abad is a big upgrade over Tommy Layne and Robbie Ross in the pen. And is a big plus that he should return to Boston next year via arbitration.
