Pablo Sandoval (pictured) struck the big blow in the inning, a three-run blast that had the Red Sox leading 5-4 going into the eighth.

Robby Scott was charged with a blown save in relief, although it was a pair of walks issued by reliever Joe Kelly that drove in the ultimate winning run.

Dustin Pedroia, Mitch Moreland, Chris Young and Sandoval each had two hits for Boston in the loss.
