The Red Sox took an early 2-0 lead on RBI doubles by Mitch Moreland and J.D. Martinez in the bottom of the first inning. Andrew Benintendi made it 3-0 with another run-scoring double in the second.

Xander Bogaerts and Martinez each had two hits in the win; Bogaerts hit his eighth home run of the season in the bottom of the seventh.

Porcello scattered five hits and walked two as he improved his record to 7-2. Reliever Hector Velazquez loaded the bases in the ninth with one out but Craig Kimbrel got a strike out and a ground out to end the game for his 17th save of the year.
