Eduardo Rodriguez (pictured) allowed a two-RBI double by Matt Chapman in the top of the first and then a solo home run in the second to Stephen Piscotty in suffering his first loss of the year.

The Red Sox scoring consisted of RBI groundouts by Mitch Moreland and Mookie Betts, and a solo home run by Andrew Benintendi.

Benintendi led Boston with three hits and now has his average up to .266. Xander Bogaerts and Moreland each had two hits.

The Red Sox have now started the homestand with two straight losses to Oakland.
