Cardinals Win, Freese Is MVP

This is the kind of World Series it was. David Freese was great and deserves the MVP, but he nearly blew game 6 for his team on a routine popup. Freese had 21 RBIs, breaking the old record of 19 held by Sandy Alomar, Scott Spiezio, and of course David Ortiz. Nelson Cruz, who was stellar in the ALCS, was virtually a non-factor in the Series, and if anything will be remembered for the catch he didn't make.

Buster Olney writes, via Twitter --
La Russa says he called Dave Duncan early Friday to talk rotation options. Duncan: "are you kidding? It's Chris Carpenter."
La Russa will probably get too much credit, but he does seem to win when it counts. Teexas manager Ron Washington will probably get too much blame, but he did make a couple of puzzling calls.

Obviously, there is only one thing a Sox fan can say.

Wait 'til next year.
