The numbers are ... well, not terrible, but not inspiring. He's 31, and coming off his worst year since his rookie year, though it looks like an injury-shortened season.

They also reportedly has a deal back in December 2010, which never occurred. So either: a) the Sox see something that has held their interest, or b) the Sox are a little more desperate now.

But hey, he's a Philly. They do something right with pitchers down there. He's probably worth a gamble.
