Mexican Baseball League officials say Jose Canseco has acknowledged that he took a banned substance for which he has no prescription and will now not play in the league.Plinio Escalante, president of the Mexican League, confirmed to ESPN Deportes that the banned substance is testosterone.A source told ESPN Deportes that Canseco refused to take a doping test.
Canseco took to Twitter Wednesday to refute the allegations.
"How can I test positive when I never took any test don't believe everything the media tells you.the truth always comes out I am not using any illegal substanced," Canseco tweeted. "Don't be so quick to judge till you here the truth that's a sure sign of ignorance hatred and jealousy."
I follow Jose Canseco on twitter so the news that he was attempting a comeback, as well as the fact that he got back with his girlfriend Leila, was nothing new to me. And honestly at this point - the steroid thing isn't either. It should be obvious to anyone that if you needed steroids during your MLB playing career than you are going to need them 12 years later when your kicking around the Mexican league. Apparently Canseco has finally admitted that the substance he took was banned so hopefully this is the last we hear from the former Bash Brother. We don't need anymore MMA fights, YouTube videos of Jose hitting 500 foot bombs off of some 26 year old independent league player with a second job or twitter posts about how sad and lonely Jose is without Leila by his side. I do love the Michael Jackson defense though. "No they're ignorant. That's ignorant."
