Valentine won't rule out starting Iglesias

BRADENTON, Fla. -- Jose Iglesias, who batted second for the Red Sox on Wednesday afternoon against the Pirates, remains very much in the hunt in the team's shortstop competition.
The highly-touted prospect, who defected from Cuba in 2009, is in competition with the more established Mike Aviles.
Before Wednesday's game, Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine was asked how close to big league ready Iglesias is.
"Readiness for the big leagues? Pretty close," Valentine said.
