The final roster is set, Opening Day closer announced

All of this info is from Pete Abraham's Twitter. Say what you want about the man's overall appearance but he gets shit done.
Say hello to the Red Sox opening day closer, Alfredo Aceves.

Bobby Valentine has announced that he will carry 13 pitchers on the Opening Day roster. Sure it seems like a bit of overkill but the Sox were out of options with Michael Bowden so he had to be on the roster. Vicente Padilla is around just for insurance and as for Scott Atchinson and Justin Thomas? Well, nobody can really explain the need for both of them. I guess we needed another lefty so Thomas can fill that role but the Atchinson thing just seems unnecessary.

Also, when asked about Beckett's injury Valentine said,
"It's not much of an injury."
So we've got that going for us, which is nice.

Bobby V also announced that Alfredo Aceves will be the closer on opening day. And in response to the ESPN radio gig in New York, Valentine was his usual quotable self.
"What, there aren't any Red Sox fans in New York?"
