Digging Up

Wins are good.

Just last week the Sox trailed in the AL East by eight games. As of this morning the number is 5.5.

Adrian Gonzalez, true to his word, has gotten his numbers up, boosting his average to .293. Not so long ago, it was .250.

Positive reports have come from the injured list.

My personal favorite team statistic is run differential (DIFF), I like it because it's straightforward: runs scored minus runs allowed. It's also considered one of the better predictors of team success.

With Sunday's win, the Red Sox run differential became +2, and now it is +7. This is, I believe, the first time the number has been positive all season. (Texas stands atop the league at +78.)

There are many corners left to turn, but things are looking up as we approach the game 40 mark.

Josh Beckett starts tonight against Blake Beavan. Josh could use a win, and has a pretty good shot at getting it.
