10-4, Good Buddy. Sox Head West On High Note

Ladies and gentlemen, presenting your third place Boston Red Sox.

Boston jumped on Blue Jays starter Ricky Romero for 6 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning Thursday afternoon on their way to a 10-4 rout of Toronto at Fenway Park. The win was the 9th in their last 11 games and gave the Sox a 7-2 record on the homestand.

Cody Ross, Adrian Gonzalez, and Mike Aviles each had two hits, and David Ortiz (pictured with Mike Aviles) blasted the 399th home run of his career in the 5th inning off Toronto reliever Jesse Chavez.

For his part, Jon Lester pitched 7 innings in picking up his second win during the month of June. He allowed 4 runs on 7 hits, with 4 strikeouts and no walks. Mark Melancon and Clayton Mortensen combined for 2 perfect innings in relief.

Back on April 21st, the Red Sox had just come off blowing a 9-run lead against the Yankees and were mired in last place with a 4-10 record. Since then, they're 11 games over .500 and have moved into 3rd place in the American League East just 2 games in the loss column out of 2nd place.
